New Studio!

Happy New Year to everyone that even lightly follows my art career! 2023 was a transitional year, as I sold my house and studio in St. Helena, CA in Napa Valley, and moved back full time to Houston, Texas. Yeehaw and giddyup my husband Rick said!  We had both  been in California since the early 1970's and though I have been part time in Texas since 1999, it was time to simplify and come home to Texas fulltime. We simply love it here and are thriving. Our transition started in June, the house sold in July and we drove back in August. I have taken a studio at The Silos here in an interesting part of the city. They are warehouse buildings that have been turned into studios making it wonderful to be around so many artists any time I am working. They have been fun, generous and helpful as I settle in, set up and get started in a new chapter of my art life. Just this past week my brush launched into a new landscape piece called "Ferocious Beauty". It is our skyline as a huge storm approaches.  It is exciting to have new views to capture my beautiful city. There is a series here....

The  piece exposed here is an abstract I call "Compassion". Different for me, it started with just a color in my mind, that beautiful salmon peach pink color while thinking of that notion of compassion.  I had no idea where it would take me,but I started the abstract with just the color and out of an intuitive and absorbing experience came this piece in which water showed up as a metaphor for life. Yes life and compassion should be interwoven in our psyche and this painting speaks into that. It is a soft piece, inviting for your own interpretation.

My exposure now has expanded at the The Silos (Studio 117). It is open to the public every day, but promotes visitation every second

and third Saturday of the month. 12-4pm. Most of the studios are open all at once and it is a lively interesting time to come and visit. I normally paint Thursday's and Friday's but am there intermittently throughout the week.  Call me if coming so I can be sure to meet you!
